Volt UK Endorses Rejoin EU Party Candidate in 2026 Gorton and Denton by-election

Volt UK has decided not to run a candidate in the 2026 Gorton and Denton by-election and instead endorses Rejoin EU Party Candidate Joseph O'Meachair.

The Rejoin EU Party offers voters a clear pro-European alternative to the cautious, ineffective or, in some cases, anti-EU policies held by other major parties standing in this election. 

We urgently need to reverse the substantial and ongoing damage to UK's economy caused by Brexit. Brexit harm extends beyond the economy and has harmed worker's rights in the UK as well as food safety standards, financial security, equitable taxation and a host of other public safety issues.

O’Meachair, who lives in the North West said: “I’m standing to offer voters the opportunity to send a strong message to Keir Starmer, Labour and others – that politicians can no longer ignore the damage caused by Brexit and that we need to re-join the EU."
