The UK Co-President provides strategic and organisational leadership to Volt UK, working jointly with the other Co-President to provide clear direction, political leadership and effective representation of the party.
The role translates Volt UK’s purpose, values and strategic objectives into effective organisational action, while ensuring strong coordination between the Board, Leads, members, communities and external stakeholders.
The Co-President acts as a senior representative of Volt UK and helps build the party’s profile, credibility and relationships across the UK and across Europe.
The Co-Presidents work as a complementary leadership team, sharing responsibility for the effective governance, development and external representation of Volt UK while maintaining clear accountability for agreed areas of responsibility.

Provide visible and effective leadership to Volt UK and help set the organisation’s overall direction and priorities.
Work jointly with the other Co-President to develop, communicate and implement Volt UK’s strategic objectives.
Ensure that the work of Board members, Leads and teams is aligned with agreed organisational priorities.
Provide leadership during periods of political, organisational or strategic change.
Promote a culture of collaboration, openness, accountability and effective delivery across the organisation.

Work with the Volt UK Board to ensure effective governance, oversight and strategic decision-making.
Chair or jointly chair Board meetings and ensure that agreed decisions are translated into clear actions.
Support the Board in setting priorities, monitoring organisational performance and addressing strategic risks.
Ensure that key organisational decisions are communicated clearly to members and relevant teams.
Work with Board members to resolve cross-team issues and maintain effective organisational coordination.

Act as a senior public representative of Volt UK, communicating its purpose, values and political objectives to external audiences.
Represent Volt UK in meetings with political parties, movements, NGOs, civil society organisations, businesses, media and other stakeholders.
Build and maintain relationships with key political and civic stakeholders in support of Volt UK’s strategic objectives.
Provide political leadership on major issues and help ensure that Volt UK presents a coherent and credible public position.
Work with the Strategy, Policy, Partnership and Communications Leads to ensure external engagement reflects Volt UK’s agreed strategy and policies.

Support the development of Volt UK’s organisational capacity, leadership and volunteer base.
Ensure that Leads and teams have clear objectives, appropriate support and effective channels for escalation and decision-making.
Encourage recruitment, development and retention of talented volunteers and future leaders.
Support effective structures and processes as Volt UK develops and expands.
Promote collaboration between regional, community and functional teams.

Ensure members and volunteers have meaningful opportunities to contribute to Volt UK’s development.
Encourage open and constructive internal discussion while providing clear leadership once decisions have been made.
Maintain strong links with regional and community structures and ensure their perspectives inform organisational decision-making.
Communicate strategic priorities and decisions clearly to the wider membership.

Maintain an effective relationship with Volt Europa and represent Volt UK within the wider Volt movement.
Ensure that Volt UK contributes to, and benefits from, international knowledge, networks and best practice.
Support alignment between Volt UK’s strategy and the wider objectives of Volt Europa while reflecting the UK political and organisational context.

Work with the Communications Lead to develop a consistent and credible public profile for Volt UK.
Support major announcements, campaigns, events and public-facing initiatives.
Act as an appropriate spokesperson for Volt UK where agreed by the Board.
Ensure public communications accurately reflect agreed organisational positions and strategic priorities.

A clear and effectively communicated organisational direction aligned with Volt UK’s agreed strategy and values.
Effective joint leadership with the other Co-President, including clear allocation of responsibilities and consistent decision-making.
Effective governance and coordination of the Volt UK Board and its Leads.
Regular engagement with members, regional and community structures and the wider volunteer network.
A programme of senior-level external engagement that strengthens Volt UK’s relationships, profile and strategic opportunities.
Effective representation of Volt UK within the wider Volt Europa movement.
Regular reporting to the Board and membership on organisational priorities, progress and significant strategic developments.

Strong leadership skills, with the ability to provide direction while working collaboratively with others.
Strategic thinker able to translate Volt UK’s values and ambitions into practical organisational priorities.
Strong understanding of political organisations, civic engagement and the UK political environment.
Excellent communicator with the confidence to represent Volt UK publicly and engage with senior external stakeholders.
Strong relationship-builder with the ability to work effectively across political, civil society, business and community environments.
Experienced in governance, organisational leadership, strategy, campaigning, public affairs or a related field.
Demonstrable ability to build consensus, manage competing priorities and make clear decisions.
Highly collaborative and able to work effectively within a shared leadership model.
Comfortable working in a volunteer-led, fast-moving and evolving political organisation.
Committed to Volt UK’s values and to developing a modern, democratic and citizen-focused political movement.
